
Each year the Military
Officers Association of America (MOAA) awards the
MOAA JROTC Medal (Junior Reserve Officers Training
Corps) to local high school students who are
recognized for “exceptional potential for military
leadership as a member of the Junior Officers
Reserve Officers’ Training Corps.” The MOAA-GDC works with
45 high school JROTC units in awarding and
presenting the MOAA medal and certificate to the
deserving cadet in each unit. Charles Gibbs, Col
USAF (Ret), is currently the Acting Junior ROTC
Coordinator.
To be eligible for an award, a candidate must:

Be in the
next-to-last year of a JROTC program |
| |
Be in good
academic standing |
| |
Demonstrate a
high degree of loyalty to the unit,
school, and the country |
| |
Demonstrate exceptional potential for
military leadership |
Eligibility requirements for Marine Corps JROTC are
a little different and are as follows:

Be in the upper
10 percent of his high school class |
| |
Have an “A”
average in MCJROTC academic subjects |
| |
Be assigned to an
“officer” billet |
| |
Be nominated in
his junior year |
