Oriana Pawlyk

Oriana Pawlyk is POLITICO’s aviation reporter, covering everything from drones to airlines to the uncharted territory of commercial space.

Prior to joining POLITICO, Oriana covered the Pentagon with a focus on aerial warfare and emerging defense technologies for Military.com. She won the American Legion’s Fourth Estate Award for her coverage of a restrictive Air Force HIV policy, and the 2021 Aerospace Media Award for her reporting on the military’s progressive shift to use virtual reality to train its pilots. Her continued coverage of bomber aircraft even got her a ride aboard a B-1 Lancer in 2017.

Oriana is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she received a bachelor’s in journalism and English literature.
